The Fazenda

Junior Araujo, the son of Claudeci, runs Fazenda Ouro de Minas since 2016. He is in his mid-twen- ties and loves experimenting with new coffee varieties and processing techniques. His younger brother works alongside him on the Fazenda. The farm was founded in 1978 in Juaraia, South Minas Gerais, and is located at altitudes varying between 900 and 1.200 meters in a predominantly hilly area known for its fertile and red soil.

The average yearly production of 3.000 bags consists of Red and Yellow Catuaí, Tupi, Catucaí, and Mundo Novo, and is processed either as Natural or Pulped Natural. These coffees are considered real gems, repeatedly awarded in state quality competitions that comply with the ‘Certifica Minas’ sustainability standards. Unique about Fazenda Ouro de Minas is the use of wooden silos to store coco and parchment on the farm’s grounds, a technique that preserves the coffee beans’ exceptional freshness and taste.
